This page will walk you through the process of completing your mentor / mentee and advisor / advisee responsibilities for the school year. For extra reference, the Mentoring Program Manual has been linked at the bottom of this page. If you need any clarification on any Mentor / Mentee Program procedures, please refer to that manual. Mentor / Mentee Program Requirements

Program requirements each have a dedicated button below. Each one is captioned with a description of the task. Please pay careful attention to each description as they are there to help you understand what is to be done when and by whom.

All requirements must be completed by May 1st (unless noted otherwise)!

Required Observations

First and second-year teachers with NC must complete one observation of his/her mentor teacher EACH quarter (4 total observations). The mentor is also expected to observe his/her mentee once each quarter as well. Use the button above to access the form.Advisees (new teachers at NC with 10+ years experience) must observe his/her advisor teacher 2 times per school year (1st quarter, 2nd quarter). The advisor is also expected to observe his/her advisee 2 times per school year.Required Participants: New 1st & 2nd Year NC Teachers (4 total observations)New Advisee NC Teachers with 10+ years experience (2 total observations)

Required Board Meeting Observation

EACH NC first-year teacher and his/her mentor must attend ONE Board Meeting with the intention of exposing the new teacher to Board procedures. Only the new teacher is to submit the Board Meeting form linked above. Board meetings are held monthly at the district admin building. Staying for the entire meeting is not necessary; leaving after approximately 15 minutes is acceptable as long as you are able to slip out quietly during a natural break/transition in the meeting. You are welcome to stay for an entire meeting if you prefer.Required Participants:1st Year NC Teacher and his/her Mentor(New teacher submits observation form.)

Required Procedures Checklist

At the beginning of the school year, mentors and mentees along with advisors and advisees must go through the procedures checklist linked in the button above.Mentors and mentees should go through the checklist during orientation in order to get the mentee acclimated to expected classroom, building, district procedures. Advisors and advisees must go through the checklist to familiarize the new experienced teacher with building and district procedures.  Only the ADVISOR must submit it in order to get paid for being an advisor. Required Participants:1st & 2nd Year New NC Teachers and Mentors (discussed verbally)New Advisee NC Teachers and AdvisorsAdvisors only must submit through Mentor Program Google Classroom.

Required PD Time Log (end of school year)

The PD Time Log must be submitted annually by May 15th. ALL faculty members must submit a PD Time Log, so both mentors and mentees / advisors and advisees will submit this log to their building office upon request in the spring. Teachers with an initial teaching certificate must have 30 PD hours logged. Teachers with a Career CPC (99 year) teaching certificate must have at least 15 PD hours logged.Required Participants:ALL district teachers
