EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES & SUBSTITUTE INFORMATION

Anyone interested in becoming a substitute teacher must have completed a minimum of 36 semester hours of credit from a regionally accredited, academic degree-granting college or university.  Necessary substitute teacher application along with a state-mandated background check and fingerprinting must be completed.

Substitute teachers must participate in a 20 clock hour training that is linked on the DESE website above or complete 36 semester hours at an accredited institution.

The daily pay rate for NC substitute teachers is $105 per day for non-4-year educational degree holders. The rate increases to $110 per day for 4-year educational degree holders.
